Remembering Julie Hunter
“Legacy is not leaving something for people. It’s leaving something in people.” - Peter Strople
No truer words could be said for our Resource colleague and friend, Julie Hunter.
It is with profound sadness that we are remembering Julie following her passing - but with that sadness comes the chance to celebrate the life of a much-loved colleague, whose passion and kindness lives on in the actions she took and the way she treated the hundreds of people she worked with every day.
As Group HR Director for Resource’s 16 partner companies, Julie was an essential figure within the leadership team. For employees, her voice could be your voice. Her words could comfort, motivate and direct you when you needed it. Her development of the teams and people around her has created a legacy of better ways of working together which will never be forgotten.
Having joined the business in 1987 as an office junior before rising through the ranks over a 34 year period to become HR Director, Julie had a huge influence on the development, culture and values of Resource and each of its partner companies.
The tributes to Julie have been many and heartfelt. She was hugely popular across the businesses and known for her passion fighting for investment in Human Resources and Development.
Julie was also a great source of advice and support to those on the shop floor as well as to the main Board of Directors, and to many others whom she coached and mentored.
The strength of Julie’s character and the conviction with which she met challenges is something that will stay with everyone who worked with her. If at any point in the future we are faced with the question ‘what would Julie do?’, we all know that Julie would make the decision driven by kindness, honesty, empathy and compassion.
Everyone at Resource would like to extend their deepest condolences to Julie’s family, with the promise that the legacy she cultivated will live on.
